Semantic Solutions for Business Integration: towards a Core Business Data Interchange Ontology

It is becoming increasingly clear that businesses would achieve maximum operating efficiency through the cooperative interaction between the models that describe their functionality from different vantage points and at different levels of abstraction.

In this talk I will present our recent work on developing formal ontologies that can provide a reliable knowledge representation mechanism for modeling business information systems beyond the capabilities of purely syntactic standards, such as Business Process Execution Language (BPEL), and discuss how they can contribute to enterprise integration, re-engineering and optimization.
